Colitis

Colitis is an inflammation of the colon (large intestine), which often results in diarrhea or other digestive disturbances.

What It Is?

Colitis can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-lasting) and is typically associated with irritation or damage to the intestinal lining.

Causes?

Causes of colitis in dogs include dietary indiscretion, stress or anxiety, parasites (e.g., whipworms, Giardia), bacterial infections (e.g., Salmonella, Clostridium), chronic conditions like inflammatory bowel disease or food allergies, and other factors such as tumors, foreign bodies, or certain medications.
