Laser lithotripsy
Laser lithotripsy is a minimally invasive procedure for treating bladder stones in dogs.
How it works?
Laser lithotripsy is a medical procedure that uses laser energy to break down stones in the body, typically in the kidneys, bladder, or ureters, so they can be more easily passed or removed. During the procedure, a thin, flexible tube called an endoscope is inserted through the urinary tract to reach the stone. Once positioned, a laser fiber delivers precise pulses of high-energy light to fragment the stone into smaller pieces.
When it is used?
The procedure is generally considered when a dog has large stones that cannot pass naturally or when other non-invasive treatments have not been effective.
