Alopecia

Alopecia is the loss of hair, and it can occur in many places on a dog.

What Is It?

Alopecia in dogs refers to the partial or complete loss of hair, which can occur in specific areas or across the entire body.

Causes?

Alopecia in dogs can result from a variety of causes, including allergies, parasites, hormonal imbalances, stress, or nutritional deficiencies.

Additional info?

The clinical signs of alopecia vary depending on which part of the body is affected. If your dog has alopecia on his feet or toes, he may lose all or some of his claws along with the fur around them. If it affects his eyelashes or eyebrows, he may go blind if too much fur is lost from that area because of how important those hairs are for vision. The fur on his face may become patchy as well if he loses hair around his eyes or mouth due to stress or nutritional deficiencies like zinc deficiency that can cause alopecia.
